It was a cold Saturday morning sitting on the side lines watching our daughters play soccer back in December 1995. Charino leans over and tells me that I needed to start a Girls Softball League. After convincing me that I could do it, 2 weeks later we had our first board meeting. We adopted Christina Girls Softball-"A League of Our Own" as our Official name.
Polk County opened Carter Road complex and the South Lakeland Babe Ruth Baseball League moved to their new complex leaving our girls stranded. We spoke to Parks and Recreations of Polk County and they guided us to start a youth recreational softball league.
Today, we have a new state of the art Softball Complex, the best in the county. We have a Spring and Fall Season, with a total registration of over 450 girls from 4 to 16 years of age. Five Travel Ball Teams that play competitive softball, and the best concessions in the area.
It takes a lot of hard volunteer hours to keep things organized and run smoothly. We, the volunteers do this for one reason…THE GIRLS! So next time you see a board member, make sure you thank them for doing a great job. If any one is interested in helping and volunteering for THE GIRLS please do not hesitate. We won’t know if you want to help if you don’t tell us.
Sincerely,
Ray Kazmierski-Founder
Christina Girls Softball, Inc. mission is to provide
a safe, fun and positive-approach environment for
girls to learn the sport of fastpitch softball.
While the winning of games is important, it is secondary to the
molding of our youth.
